08/12/2009 00:00:00 - IWCWV Summer Picnic
Posted by adminmore from same (Newsletter)
Greetings,
It has been a busy year since we last met up for the Irish Wolfhound Club of the Willamette Valley fun match, and that time is almost upon us again!! This year we are not having a fun match, we are going to have a picnic / bar-b-q September 26th, 2009. The Irish Wolfhound Club of Canada is having their  National Specialty show in Chilliwack, BC, Canada in conjunction with the IWCC BC branch Specialty September 17th - 20th 2009. As many of us are going up north to help support a nice entry in Canada it may be too much work for everybody to make it down to our show the following weekend. So we thought a nice low-key picnic with a handling class taught by Anne  Spalding, and grooming advice given by club members would be a nice way to share the day. You can contact the show secretary Katherine Stead @ kcstead@telus.net for information on the IWCC National and BC Specialty shows or Emma Ross @ cnoccarne@shaw.ca

We hope to see you in September, both in Canby and Canada! IWCWV members

Hollywood St. Patrick's Parade:

Sunday March 15th. Parade starts at 11am so please be on site and ready to go by 10:30am. It is at the same place - Fernwood/Cleary Middles School at NE 33rd and Hancock. Parking in school parking lot. This is a short parade, we are done by about noon - easy for puppies and seniors as if they get tired they can drop out, go over one block and pick up the group for the finish. We will be towards the front of the parade right after the bagpipers. After we are done there is a group photo session, please join us to commemorate this year.

All hounds are welcome that are - Socialized, Bathed and Brushed. Dressing up and decorations are also lots of fun. Don't forget to bring poop bags and water.

Kell's Irish Festival:

Please contact me before you come so that I know who is coming and at what time they are coming. Again, for this event it is very important that all hounds are very friendly, rock solid, bathed and brushed. Also, remember group manners, don't just let strange hounds rush up to another or crowd another - as friendly and easy going as they are this event is noisy, distracting and can be stressful. We recommend 1-2 hours only of participation especially for those that are new to this event.

Kell's is on Saturday March 14th and Sunday March 15th from 11am to 3pm for our hounds. After 3pm the noise level increases and hurts the dogs ears. The Fun Run is on Sunday so streets will be closed off for the morning so some of us arrive early at 8am and meet for breakfast before going over to Kell's - you are welcome to join us. You may also prefer to do the Parade on Sunday and if your hound isn't too tired come over to Kell's afterward for a little bit.

Look forward to seeing you all,
Dorian Mell

thank you for inviting me, once again I had a wonderful time, meeting
many wonderful people and some GREAT dogs.  It is a shame that more
people don't give Obedience a try, they might be surprised.

the Parade of veterans was very moving, it is always an inspiring time to
see the Oldies but goodies getting out and moving around the ring.

the gift bag you gave me was lovely and those Baileys chocolates are
something else :0) !!!!!  way too good.

Please thank everyone for making my visit so very pleasant

A special thanks to Phyllis for keeping me out of trouble with the scoring

regards

08/10/2008 14:00:00 - 33rd Annual IWCWV Fun Match
Posted by adminmore from same (Newsletter)
It’s that time again!  Our 33rd Annual Specialty Match is slated for Saturday, September 27, 2008.  It will again be held at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds in Canby, Oregon.  This year we are pleased to have Anne O’Keefe of Calcara Irish Wolfhounds,  Ireland, judging our regular classes, Jean Fleetwood of Misty Isle Irish Wolfhounds judging sweeps, and Ceilidh Campbell of Argyle Dobermans judging obedience.  It promises to be a full day of fun and excitement for both humans and hounds!

It’s also time to think about contributing to our always-unique silent auction.  Without your participation there can be no auction.  We are asking you to help by making an item donation.  Auction items may be brought to the event on September 27th or shipped in advance.  If you plan to bring the item(s) the day of the show, please e-mail either Susan Tank at magpie1@bendnet.com, Nadean Murray at muireadach@outlawnet.com, or complete the attached form and mail it to me (Susan Tank), at P.O. Box 2005, Sisters, OR, 97759, so you can be thanked properly in the catalog.  You may mail smaller items to me at that address or ship larger items to Nadean Murray, c/o The Pony Express, 222 West Hood, Sisters, OR  97759.

If you cannot think of an item to donate to the auction, you can still support the show by sending a monetary donation and indicating that you would like the funds to be used to purchase something special for the auction.  If you would like to support a certain class or event instead (Veterans, Obedience, Sweepstakes, etc.) just mention that on the donation form.  Donation forms must be received no later than September 17th for inclusion in the catalog.  Please send cash donations to:  IWCWV, c/o Nadean Murray, P.O. Box 3500, Sisters, OR 97759.  Monetary donations towards the purchase of trophies can also be made as per the auction donations noted above.

We hope to see all of you and your wonderful hounds at the show next month!

Thanks!

08/01/2007 18:00:00 - Annual IWCWV Match 2007
Posted by adminmore from same (Newsletter)
Clackamas County Fairgrounds, Canby, Oregon

Saturday, September 22rd, 2007

Jim Behan, Berna Bui Kennels, Ireland - Conformation;
Jill Bryson, Aeroglen Kennels, Idaho - Sweepstakes;
and by Popular Request, Jill Bryson for our Obedience competition.

Mark it on your calendar now so you won't forget the date!!

Join us for a wonderful day of winsome wolfhounds beginning with our breakfast/lunch brunch. After the obedience competition, Bagpiper Darroll Morehouse, will open the show with the stirring sound of the Pipes followed by a procession of the Hounds.  Diane Lovejoy's violin class will again serenade us during the Parade of Veterans and during the lunch break. There will be a silent auction of anything and everything wolfhound and otherwise; fun parades; and the Creative Handling and Costume classes. Even if you don't have a hound to bring, there's something for everyone (and houndless individuals may very well be asked to hold hounds at ringside)

Show hours are 8am to 6pm beginning with obedience and ending with a potluck dinner and talk with the judges. For folks traveling a distance or just wishing more wolfhound fellowship, camping on the grounds is available for $10.00 per night. Limited water/electricity hook-ups are available on a first come basis.

We hope to see you there!!
