08/12/2009 00:00:00 - IWCWV Summer Picnic
Posted by adminmore from same (Newsletter)
Greetings,
It has been a busy year since we last met up for the Irish Wolfhound Club of the Willamette Valley fun match, and that time is almost upon us again!! This year we are not having a fun match, we are going to have a picnic / bar-b-q September 26th, 2009. The Irish Wolfhound Club of Canada is having their  National Specialty show in Chilliwack, BC, Canada in conjunction with the IWCC BC branch Specialty September 17th - 20th 2009. As many of us are going up north to help support a nice entry in Canada it may be too much work for everybody to make it down to our show the following weekend. So we thought a nice low-key picnic with a handling class taught by Anne  Spalding, and grooming advice given by club members would be a nice way to share the day. You can contact the show secretary Katherine Stead @ kcstead@telus.net for information on the IWCC National and BC Specialty shows or Emma Ross @ cnoccarne@shaw.ca

We hope to see you in September, both in Canby and Canada! IWCWV members

Hollywood St. Patrick's Parade:

Sunday March 15th. Parade starts at 11am so please be on site and ready to go by 10:30am. It is at the same place - Fernwood/Cleary Middles School at NE 33rd and Hancock. Parking in school parking lot. This is a short parade, we are done by about noon - easy for puppies and seniors as if they get tired they can drop out, go over one block and pick up the group for the finish. We will be towards the front of the parade right after the bagpipers. After we are done there is a group photo session, please join us to commemorate this year.

All hounds are welcome that are - Socialized, Bathed and Brushed. Dressing up and decorations are also lots of fun. Don't forget to bring poop bags and water.

Kell's Irish Festival:

Please contact me before you come so that I know who is coming and at what time they are coming. Again, for this event it is very important that all hounds are very friendly, rock solid, bathed and brushed. Also, remember group manners, don't just let strange hounds rush up to another or crowd another - as friendly and easy going as they are this event is noisy, distracting and can be stressful. We recommend 1-2 hours only of participation especially for those that are new to this event.

Kell's is on Saturday March 14th and Sunday March 15th from 11am to 3pm for our hounds. After 3pm the noise level increases and hurts the dogs ears. The Fun Run is on Sunday so streets will be closed off for the morning so some of us arrive early at 8am and meet for breakfast before going over to Kell's - you are welcome to join us. You may also prefer to do the Parade on Sunday and if your hound isn't too tired come over to Kell's afterward for a little bit.

Look forward to seeing you all,
Dorian Mell

thank you for inviting me, once again I had a wonderful time, meeting
many wonderful people and some GREAT dogs.  It is a shame that more
people don't give Obedience a try, they might be surprised.

the Parade of veterans was very moving, it is always an inspiring time to
see the Oldies but goodies getting out and moving around the ring.

the gift bag you gave me was lovely and those Baileys chocolates are
something else :0) !!!!!  way too good.

Please thank everyone for making my visit so very pleasant

A special thanks to Phyllis for keeping me out of trouble with the scoring

regards
