IRISH WOLFHOUND CLUB OF THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY
Monthly Meeting – January 16, 2008
Season’s Grill – Canby, OR
The meeting was called to order at 8:11pm.
Present: Michael Demeter, Esther Monical, Patty Storkel, Diane Lovejoy, Linda Crosby
Old Business
1. Final Draft of amended Constitution and By-Laws – Following discussion a motion to accept the changes as presented was moved, seconded and approved by unanimous vote of attendees. Mike will email the final Draft to Esther for distribution and member vote.
2. Club Website – Mike reported that the hosting agency was destroyed in the recent Vernonia flood. He has reestablished the site so it is running now, but still needs work. We hope future use of the site will include the regularly posting of club meeting minutes and a club newsletter.
3. National Website – Diane reported that our club is not showing up on their site. The national site, in order to recognize us requires we include officer information and name a club liaison. Diane Lovejoy accepted appointment to serve as our liaison and has been working with the national group to bring our site into compliance.
4. Rescue:
a. Patty following up on Mulino sign for IW pups for sale. She’s trying to get more information.
b. Patty’s been contacted by 5 people interested in puppies.
c. Patty checking out dogs at local ‘pounds that might be IW or IW crosses and is working to place
dogs with adoptive parents.
d. Dorian is looking for a home for her puppy, St. Brendan. He’s in kindergarten now (less than 5
months old). He’s very smart, loves, people, and has special needs. It was recommended that this
puppy be placed with an experienced IW owner and would do better in a home with someone who
who is home during the day.
5. Membership – It has come to our attention that we may not have a current, confirmed list of 2008 members. Esther is to contact Mel,,Nadean, and Jayney to send her information as soon as possible.
New Business
1. Education – Mike received an adoption pamphlet from Judy Simon (Sec’y. IWCCA) entitled, “So You Want to Get an Irish Wolfhound Puppy” and has requested she send some for use by club members.
2. Events:
a. Match – the Match will be held at the Canby Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 27th. Tina has
the list of conformation judges. Patty will arrange for the obedience judge.
b. St. Patrick’s Day – the NE Portland parade is set for march 16th; Kells for march 15th. Patty and
Diane will contact Dorian to help with the arrangements. Diane is trying to get Kells to put
information about our participation on their website.
3. Member illness – Curt and Dorothy Myrick sent word that illness is preventing them from participating
more actively in the club. The Club to send card to them wishing them well.
4. Meeting Schedule – Hope to change to meeting only on even numbered months, when Constitution and By-Law changes are ratified. Perhaps February or March.
