IRISH WOLFHOUND CLUB

OF THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY

IWCWV was established in 1975 in the Portland, OR area by people dedicated to protecting and improving this wonderful breed. Our primary goals are to promote responsible pet ownership; mentoring and education of the novice owner; providing rescue to hounds in need; and to present Irish Wolfhounds in a favorable light without exploiting them.

Our members are involved in all areas of the sport of dogs. Breeding, Conformation and Obedience Showing, Therapy Dog Visitation, and Lure Coursing are some of the main areas of interest. The cumulative experience represented by our members span many years. We offer expertise in the following areas:

New owner education - As you know, IW's are different, not just in size. They require different approaches to daily care and problem solving or the handling of special situations. Our experienced owners are always happy to mentor a novice owner concerning all aspects of IW ownership. Call us anytime with questions or concerns about care and feeding, health issues, training, traveling with your IW, or whatever. No question or concern is too silly to address. We are most happy to share and teach.
